Social Media Sites - Part 1

In this video I talk about a few of my favorite social media sites and why they are worth using when promoting your website. This is the first part of a two part series talking about social media sites. Here are the ones from today’s video:

Stumble Upon - stumble upon is a great site to link to your site and other sites that you like. It is simple to use since you add the tool bar to your browser. Total set up time: Under 5 minutes.

Squidoo - squidoo is a site that lets you set up your own web page (they call it a lens). You can create as many of these pages (or lenses) that you want. Each one has many simple tools to add content from other sites like blogs, youtube videos, and much more. Total set up time: 10 minutes or more (depends on how much you put into it)

Del.icio.us - delicious is a great bookmarking website. Once you get your account set up on delicious you can be making links to any of your favorite sites and hopefully your own site! Be sure to make it a “public” so others can find it. Total set up time: 3-5 minutes.

If you have any questions please ask. Also, do you have any suggestions for other good Social Media sites??

Here are some ways to promote your blog once you get it started using Ping services.
First off, what is a Blog Ping? Well, Blog Pings are a notification to a Web site that a blog has been created or updated. The ping is typically an XML message that contains the URL of the blog. Blog tracking sites publish separate Internet addresses for accepting pings, and news sites may also set up ping addresses.

Here are some of the best Ping services:
Ping-O-Matic
Pingoat

Using Twitter as a method SEO

Twitter is a very easy to use social media website, that can provide quality SEO if used properly. It is super easy to send a message of “what your doing now” to twitter. You can text message it from your phone, send a message from almost any popular Instant Message service like AIM, create widgets on your blog, or just by going directly to twitter.com.

I am still a noob at this twitter stuff, but it’s fun and very easy to use. Check me out on Twitter here.

My favorite method to post to it is by using AIM, since I am always logged in.

Why Facebook ads work so well

Facebook ads can be much more “targeted” to the demographic that you are looking for. For instance you could target females ages 20-30, or even more specific things like females that like a certain sport or activity or have a specific interest. I have been using PPC (pay per click) type advertising on google and yahoo search engines for quite some time now. But, they do not offer this type of targeted demographics. So, if you know your target audience, and I would assume you do. You may find your money well spent advertising on FaceBook. I just hope that Google and other Search engines figure out how to do this type of targeted marketing in the near future. I assume they are already working on it.
